Overview
Accessibility is a requirement, not a preference. Follow these minimums for all public assets.
Specifications
Families & roles
Contrast: ≥ 4.5:1 (normal), ≥ 3:1 (large).
Typography: Body ≥ 16 px; line height 1.4–1.6; line length 45–75 chars.
Links: Visually distinct (underline in running text) Focus: Visible focus ring ≥ 2 px with ≥ 3:1 contrast against both adjacent colors.
Usage
Pair color with icons/labels; never rely on color alone.
Provide captions/transcripts for videos where applicable.
Test contrast before publishing.
Dont’s
Hide focus outlines. Overlay text on busy images without sufficient overlay and contrast.
Rationale
Meeting WCAG AA reduces error rates and supports diverse users (including low vision, glare, and time‑pressured clinical contexts).
Clear focus and link styles enable keyboard and assistive tech use, lowering support burden.
Quality checks
Run a contrast audit on all headings, body, and charts.
Keyboard‑tab through any interactive prototype; confirm visible focus on every element.
